Silent Movie: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1920) with live organ accompaniment

Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 7:30 p.m.
Free Admission ~ Voluntary offering

On the night following Halloween, PPC’s Director of Music and Organist Timothy Howard brings a new organ score to PPC’s iconic Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ to accompany a silent film classic featuring John Barrymore’s acclaimed performance as the two title characters. Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (by way of an 1887 stage play by Thomas Russell Sullivan), the film explores many diverse themes, most obviously the dichotomy of both good and evil inhabiting the same person.

Dr. Howard has previously recorded and performed his score multiple times for Nosferatu (1922) and two other silent films; this is the first performance of his work for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

A reception follows the program.

Free to the public (a freewill offering is taken).
