It’s Silent Movie Night at PPC!

Skip the trick-or-treating crowds and enjoy a Halloween evening screening of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent film Nosferatu with a live organ score provided by Timothy Howard on PPC’s iconic Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ. This “pop-up” event is free and open to the public; current Covid-19 protocols (distancing and masking) are obligatory; costumes are welcome.

Dr. Howard recorded his accompaniment for a restored 1991 re-issue of the film on video cassette and videodisk. Since a significant portion of the score is improvised, no two performances are identical. The score also features organ repertoire dating from the 19th century by Franz Liszt, Gabriel Pierné, Julius Reubke, and others. PPC’s recently upgraded video projectors mean you’ll see the film’s larger-than life characters in vivid monochrome on tinted backgrounds just like the original release. Back by popular demand!
