An active organ and harpsichord recitalist, Alison Luedecke’s playing has been hailed for “impeccable musicianship” and “flawless playing.” Her performances have taken her to many venues across the United States, as well as to France, Canada, Mexico and Germany. She is passionate about sharing her love of music with her students, audience members, and anyone willing to listen!

A native of Galveston, Texas, Alison Luedecke earned the degree Doctor of Musical Arts at the Eastman School of Music as a student of David Craighead (Pasadena Presbyterian Church’s organist 1945–1955). She has performed for regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the Hymn Society, and the Organ Historical Society. Her church ministry has included positions as Director of Liturgical Music for the diocese of Rochester, New York, and San Diego, at the cathedral and parish level. Alison currently is Organist at St. James by the Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla, California.

An accomplished ensemble musician, Dr. Luedecke is co-founder of Millennia Consort, California’s premiere “Organ Plus” ensemble, and she is a founding member of, and harpsichordist for, the San Diego Bach Soloists. She has performed with the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, Texas Baroque ensemble, Symphony Silicon Valley, and other chamber ensembles and orchestras.

As a recording artist, Dr. Luedecke is featured on numerous CDs, and has been heard many times on the nationally syndicated radio program Pipedreams. In her free time, Alison enjoys cooking wonderful delights, spending quality time with family and friends, and exercising.

This is Dr. Luedecke’s second appearance on the Friends of Music series; she last played a recital on the 2011–2012 season.

Friends of Music concerts are always open to the public and free of admission charge.
