 | Los Angeles Brass Alliance: Next Up Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. Late addition at 7:00 p.m.: A pre-concert introduction to the program, its genesis, and meeting some of the composers! Friends of Music is pleased to partner with the Los Angeles Brass Alliance (LAB-A), bringing their 30-plus member brass ensemble to the 21st century with the help of 10 Los Angeles-based composers! Named Next Up, this concert features new works for brass ensemble and brass chamber groups, broadening the brass ensemble repertoire with a uniquely Los Angeles flair. LAB-A is among the newest instrumental ensembles on the Southern California music scene, having launched an ambitious inaugural season just last Fall. Activities already underway include commissioning works from LA-based composers, collaborative performances with community organizations, holding reading and recording sessions for new works, competitions, and more.
