Friends of Music at Pasadena Presbyterian Church presents a recital by guitarist Laura Mazon Franqui on Saturday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. Hailed as a leading classical guitarist of her generation, Laura’s passionate and evocative playing fuses the rich cultural heritage of her native Cuba with the best classical traditions and contemporary trends. Recently endorsed by Cordoba Guitars and presented with a GSI Foundation Award, she is considered a feminist, a millenial, and a rebel performer who embodies the “new virtuoso” paradigm. An outspoken champion of women composers, she has collaborated with musicians of diverse backgrounds and musical aims. Having appeared at hundreds of noted venues across the Spanish-speaking world and the U.S., Laura is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at USC.

All Friends of Music concerts are free to the public (freewill donations are gratefully accepted). Street parking around PPC is free after 6pm (see also additional parking info), and the PPC Sanctuary is mobility-impaired accessible.
